The David and Marcia Kretzmer Research Fellowship in Human Rights Law


 

In 2010 the Minerva Center for Human Rights received, through the Law Faculty, a donation for the establishment of a research fellowship in honor of Prof. David Kretzmer, the Center's Founding Director, and his late wife Marcia, z"l.


The Kretzmer Fellow for Research in Human Rights Law receives a scholarship in the amount of $15,000. The Minerva Center has provides office space for the Kretzmer Fellow at the Center, and the Law Faculty and the Minerva Center together provide the Kretzmer Fellow with professional support and supervision, as well as all necessary administrative assistance.


2013-2014


The 2013-2014 Kretzmer Research Fellow in Human Rights Law is  Mr. Ronen Polliack. Ronen is a PhD candidate at the Law Faculty and under the supervision of Prof. Barak Medina, his research focuses on the issue of monetary compensations in constitutional and administrative law. 


2012-2013


The 2012-2013 Kretzmer Research Fellow in Human Rights Law was  Ms. Dana Gur. Dana is a  research-fellow at the Law Faculty, and the recipient of several research grants and stipends. The subject matter of Dana’s research is “Justifications, Excuses and International Circumstances”.

2011-2012


The 2011-2012 Kretzmer Research Fellow in Human Rights Law was Mr. Yahli Shereshevsky, a PhD candidate at the Law Faculty. Yahli graduated with honors from the Law Faculty and the Hebrew University's Amirim Interdisciplinary Program in the Humanities for Outstanding Students.
His doctoral thesis was entitled "The Tension between Reality and Utopia in the Process of Balancing Humanitarian Considerations and Military Necessity in International Humanitarian Law".


2010-2011


The first Kretzmer Fellow, selected for the 2010-2011 academic year was Ms. Tammy Harel Ben-Shahar. Tammy is a doctoral candidate at the Law Faculty, and has received numerous academic honors throughout her studies. Her doctoral thesis was entitled "Educational Equality and The Privatization of Education".
