אהוד גוטל הוא פרופסור מן המניין בפקולטה למשפטים באוניברסיטה העברית, מופקד על הקתדרה על שם בורה לסקין, וכן חבר במרכז פדרמן לחקר הרציונאליות. תחומי העניין המרכזיים שלו הם דיני נזיקין, תרופות, וניתוח כלכלי של המשפט.

מאמריו התפרסמו, בין השאר בכתבי העת University of Chicago Law Review, Stanford Law Review, Virginia Law Review, Vanderbilt Law Review, Michigan Law Review, Georgetown Law Journal, and Washington University Law Review, וכן בכתבי העת המתמחים במשפט וכלכלה Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Legal Studies, American Law and Economics Review, Journal of Empirical Legal Studies, and Journal of Law, Economics, & Organization.
