גלי פרי היא מרצה במכון לקרימינולוגיה, הפקולטה למשפטים, האוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים. מחקרה מתמקד בשיטור הפגנות ואלימות פוליטית, קיצונות פוליטית ושיטור טרור. עבודת הדוקטורט שלה באוניברסיטה העברית עסקה בשיטור הפגנות, ובהשפעה של מאפייני שיטור פאראמיליטריים על עמדות מפגינים כלפי המשטרה. לאחר שהשלימה את לימודי הדוקטורט ב-2016, חקרה כעמיתת פוסט-דוקטורט במכון לקרימינולוגיה באוניברסיטת קיימברידג' את האינטראקציה בין חשיפה לאלימות בגיל מוקדם לקיצונות פוליטית ואלימות בבגרות. ד"ר פרי היא עמיתת קרן גולדה מאיר לשנת 2018, וזוכת הפרס על שם אליס ואלמה בירק במשפטים לשנת 2019.
