קטיה אסף-זכרוב הינה מרצה בכירה בפקולטה למשפטים ופורום אירופה באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים. היא למדה תואר ראשון ושני באוניברסיטה העברית. את לימודי הדוקטורט קטיה עשתה באוניברסיטת מינכן כמלגאית של המכון מאקס פלאנק לתחרות וחדשנות.
כתיבתה של קטיה מתפרשת על תחומי משפט מגוונים, כגון פרסומת, סימני מסחר, פטנטים, חופש הביטוי, הסדרת התקשורת, לשון הרע והעדפה מתקנת. כתיבתה מנתחת בצורה ביקורתית את תרבות הצריכה, פטישיזם של מותגים ואידיאולוגיה קפיטליסטית. כל כתביה משלבים ניתוח משפטי עם תובנות מדיסציפלינות אחרות, כגון כלכלה, סוציולוגיה, פסיכולוגיה, פילוסופיה וסמיוטיקה. בנוסף, קטיה מתעניינת במשפט השוואתי, במיוחד בהשוואת השיטה האמריקאית עם השיטה הגרמנית תוך כדי חשיפת ההשפעות הפילוסופיות שעיצבו את שתיהן.
לאחרונה, מחקרה של קטיה החל להתרכז בשטחים עירוניים ציבוריים. יחד עם הצלם טים שנטגוקה היא מחפשת לחשוף את הנרטיבים השזורים בסביבה הויזואלית המשותפת שלנו ולבקר את ההסדרה המשפטית שלהם – למשל, הטיפול הלא אחיד בגרפיטי והמעמד המועדף של פרסומת מסחרית במרחב הציבורי. החזון שלהם הוא לפתח הקונצפט של עיר יותר אינקלוסיבית – עיר שתעניק לתושביה את הזכות לעצב מרחבים ציבוריים. כעת הם עובדים על ניסוי המיישם רעיון זה בדמותו של פרויקט שיאפשר לתושבי העיר להציג תכנים – טקסטים או תמונות כפי בחירתם – במרחב הציבורי.
